Highlights of the year

Summerversity and Launchpad in numbers

  • There were 106 courses with 60 different activities
  • Activities at 24 venues in Islington
  • 32 local organisations delivered the programme
  • A total of 967 young people took part
  • There were 4662 attendances
  • 45% were new to Summerversity
  • 769 young people were offered free meals as part of their courses
  • a total of 3411 meals were served
  • of these 1531 were hot meals cooked by young people as part of the outdoor catering course
  • At least 181 course bookings for 72 young people were made through TYS, the Wellbeing Team, Social Care and Bright Futures for priority places offered to those who need extra support to engage in youth provision

Accreditations

  • 12 young people passed the National Pool Lifeguard Award with seven now working at Islington's swimming pools
  • 12 gained a STA Swimming Teacher Award 11 started work at Islington's swimming pools
  • 9 are now certified as an SIA Door Supervisor with 7 now in work
  • 14 gained an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate
  • 30 were awarded a certificate in National Cycling Levels 1-2
  • 19 gained a Sport Leadership Level One Award
  • 15 gained a Football Leadership Award
  • 19 Start Paddling Awards
  • 17 Discover Paddling Awards
  • 5 gained an AQA in developing dance and performance skills
  • 14 gained an AQA Award in Combat Sport
