SIA Security Guard Licence (Door Supervisor)

SIA Course Training

BEFORE APPLYING FOR THIS COURSE, PLEASE NOTE YOU REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING:

  • You must be aged 18-24
  • At least have gained a qualification in Literacy Level 1 (Grades E-D or 1-3 at GCSE) you will be given a literacy test before the course.
  • Have no criminal record for the past 5 years at least. You can check your record for free by clicking here
  • 2 valid forms of ID which you MUST bring with you, including a current UK passport, full or provisional driving licence and a bank statement, utility bill or birth certificate

IF YOU DO NOT MEET THIS CRITERIA, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS COURSE AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE IT.

Overview

Any business selling alcohol, including small pubs, retailers, large nightclubs, cafés, restaurants, hotels and sports facilities may need trained security staff qualified as door supervisors who hold an SIA licence. A level 2 award for door supervisors in the private security industry qualification is required by law for an individual to apply for a SIA licence to work as a door supervisor. 

This course includes qualifications in:

  • First Aid 
  • Highfield Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry

Delivered by Oyster Workforce Security Ltd.

Topics covered include:
• the main characteristics of the private security industry
• the importance of safe working practices
• drug-misuse legislation
•issues and procedures relevant to the role of a door supervisor
• licensing law
• queue management
• how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations
• physical interventions and the implications of their use

There will be some additional work and reading to do outside of the course, so please think carefully about this before you apply.
