Kayak Course Lo3

Overview
This five day course helps you develop practical skills for a fun and safe time on the water. There is a strong emphasis on independence  and this award will fill in the gaps of knowledge you might have so you can get out paddling safely on an adventure. The course covers areas like:

  • On the water etiquette and how to share the space with other water users
  • Different environments you can paddle (lakes, rivers, canals, estuaries)
  • Controlling your kayak
  • Clothing and equipment needs for different environments and weather
  • Safe exploration

This course is a recognised qualification with British Canoeing.

Attendance at morning sessions from 9 - 12.30pm is essential to complete the course. Afternoon youth group session are bookable directly through Islington Boat Club from 1.30-4.30pm, these are optional but recommended to increase confidence.

A good level of water confidence is essential. Life jackets will be worn at all times. All boating equipment will be provided.
